Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is working with the Carson City School District to ensure the health and safety of students, families, employees and the community. As the flu season approaches and respiratory illnesses proliferate, Carson City is taking proactive steps to protect those at risk.

The Quad County region is offering a number of flu vaccination events for qualifying children and families free of charge, including one today, Monday, Oct. 2, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William Street. Additional immunizations will be offered at other regional locations. See dates, times and locations here.

Please plan to bring your insurance cards, but if you do not have insurance, you will not be turned away. Cost for the flu shot is $20 for uninsured or underinsured. To view the Vaccine Information Statements or to fill out a consent form, visit www.gethealthycarsoncity.org/CommunityFlu

As an added measure, the district is promoting proper handwashing and providing hand sanitizer stations throughout the schools to encourage good hygiene practices. Schools will also provide ongoing education to students, staff and families about the importance of respiratory illness prevention, symptoms to watch for and steps to take if someone becomes ill.
